Each model declares a context window in capabilities (with fallbacks for unknown names). Elcro:

• Reserves output space so prompts are truncated before the hard limit.
• Shows a context usage indicator in chat.
• Tracks usage locally in Settings → Usage (not cloud billing).

Best practices

• Start a new chat for unrelated tasks.
• Prefer search_codebase / targeted read_file over dumping whole trees.
• For huge MCP tool catalogs, keep only needed servers enabled.
